Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship is defined as:(adapted from kidshealth.org)

  • playing fair
  • following the rules of the game
  • respecting the judgment of referees and officials
  • treating opponents with respect

Good sportsmanship is extremely important to Parkway Christian School.  Parkway athletes are expected to show good sportsmanship in all situations.  Good sportsmanship could be considered the "golden rule" of sports — in other words, treating the people you play with and against as you'd like to be treated yourself. Good sportsmanship is demonstrated when athletes show respect for themselves, their teammates, and their opponents, for the coaches on both sides, and for the referees, judges, and other officials.

Sportsmanship isn't just reserved for Parkway athletes. Panther cheerleaders, fans, and parents also need to be aware of how they treat others during athletic competitions. Sportsmanship is a style and an attitude that can have a positive influence on everyone around you.
